Communications

As part of our efforts to improve communications, we have created a WhatsApp Group that we will use to notify all interested parties of planned rideouts and events in the coming year. The use of text messages has become ridiculously onerous and unnecessarily complicated as the contact list has grown and so, reluctantly, we will be phasing out this service.

Those of you already using WhatsApp *should* have received an invite link. If you are using WhatsApp and did NOT receive an invite, please contact Tony – details below.

If you want to join in with the WhatsApp group you will need to download the FREE, SAFE and VERY SIMPLE software onto your ‘phone or pc/laptop/tablet/mac etc, and then contact Tony to request a Group Invite Link.

https://www.whatsapp.com/download/

You can choose to leave the group at any time if you find it inappropriate, irrelevant or, heaven forbid, lose interest in riding damn fine motorbikes. There is no commitment, no fee, no hassle.

WhatsApp limit the numbers in the group so we have to control who is invited and who isn’t. We will always give priority to fully paid-up members of Manchester branch, and then, if we have enough empty spaces, to members of other TOMCC branches, and then, again determined by space, other interested bikers.

You can ONLY become part of the group by being invited.

Once you are a member of the group, you will be able to message other members of the group, so if you fancy an impromptue rideout one afternoon, you can ask everyone “who’s free”,

BUT you will be able to “mute” or “block” other individual members sending messages to you, if you so desire. The Group Admins (Tony, Graham and Kay, at the moment) will always be able to send messages to group members – that’s the whole (and main) purpose of the group.

So: if you want to keep informed about ride-outs and other club events, you will need to have WhatsApp installed.

We will still post details to Facebook and the website, but this means you can all receive the info straight to your pocket.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

IMPORTANT NOTICE
As you all know just before Christmas circumstances at the Arden meant that we felt we could no longer use it as a venue moving forward. Over Xmas we have been looking at alternatives, and I’m pleased to tell you we have found a suitable venue.
It is :-
The Navigation Hotel,
134 Hyde Rd.
Woodley
SK6 1NL.
It is located approximately the same distance from the M60 J25 as the arden, but instead of turning left you hang a right.
It has a large car park, a friendly atmosphere, a separate meeting room to ourselves and a good traditional pub atmosphere with good range of drinks/beers, and they very used to accommodating clubs like ours.
Next Tuesday is the usual 3rd meeting of the month, and it will held at the Navigation.
It is expected that a vote will be taken at the AGM, to let our members have a say as to whether it becomes our new permanent home.
Please make sure you get to a meeting soon so you can all see what you think.

Decembers Xmas Quiz

Great times at Tuesday nights meeting, thanks to everyone who put in the effort to make it happen, Max and Kate for the questions and the cake, Kay and Steve for the festive buffet, and all of our members for taking part. Well Done to Dave and Graham for taking the win.
Congratulations to Man U who I believe also won their footy contest. Not sure how I know that as I’m not a fan, must have caught a glimpse of it somewhere if you know what I mean (wink)

Message from Tony regarding November’s 1st meeting

Due to medical reasons, Tony won’t be able to make it to next Tuesday’s oh-so-exciting Scalextric Championship Final at our usual haunt,
The Arden Arms….which is no big deal as he’s crap at Scalextric but it’s him that brings the boards that support the race track on top of the pool
table, so without him there would be no boards and no boards will mean no racing.

However, all is not lost. If there is someone with the capability to transport the boards, each 2.4m long, 600mm wide and 12mm deep (8ft by 2ft
by half-inch in old money), he can drop them off at a convenient location for you this weekend and collect them again next weekend.

If you can help, can you call or email him? He needs to know before
Saturday morning, if at all possible.

Upcoming Dates

Dont Forget Next Tuesday the 3rd of October Dave Porter is giving us a talk about his and Bills trip along the Wild Atlantic Way

A Few Members are attending the Run to the Wall on the 7th of October Leaving Knutsford Services at 10am.
